How HR Can Contribute to Creating Competitiveness
Figure01:HR contribution in
competitive market
A workforce focused on
outperforming the competition keeps a business moving forward and successful in
the marketplace. The hiring procedure and general operating procedures of the
human resources department frequently play a significant influence in
assembling a group of workers who support the company's ability to remain
competitive. A corporation can enhance or change how competitively it competes
in its industry by evaluating the HR department's methods. (
Hiring
(Fitz-enz, Jac; Phillips, J. J. 1998.) In most businesses, the HR department is in charge of recruiting, conducting interviews, and employing new employees. The department supervisor or manager may also have a say in the hiring process. Based on the kind of new personnel it hires, the department has an impact on how competitive the company is within the sector. Employees with proven experience and job-specific abilities provide the background required to maintain the business competitive in the marketplace. Additionally, motivated individuals that have a strong sense of competition contribute to the success of the business.

Flexibility
(Fitz-enz, Jac; Phillips, J. J. 1998.) The human resources division creates and oversees company policies, especially those concerning hiring, benefits, and working hours. Offering attractive benefits and flexibility to employees increases the likelihood that the company will draw in and keep the best talent, maintaining the company's competitiveness. Employees can tailor their jobs to better suit them thanks to flexibility in the form of ad libitum working hours, flexible vacation policies, and the option of telecommuting. They are better able to strike a balance between work and life, which increases their level of job satisfaction and helps the business keep its top talent.
Training
The human resources division's primary duty also includes training. All personnel are guaranteed to be aware about the business' operating procedures and projects thanks to a strong training program. When employees receive high-quality training, they may perform more productively and effectively to keep the business at the top of the market. In order to maintain the company's competitiveness, the HR department keeps staff up to date on new industry standards through refresher courses and frequent training sessions with all employees.(Fitz-enz, Jac; Phillips, J. J. 1998.)

Culture
The corporate culture of a company has an impact on how motivated and positive its employees are at work. A productive workplace environment that rewards initiative and hard effort keeps the company a strong competitor in its sector. Through the policies it establishes and the way it treats its employees, the human resources department influences the company culture. A human resources department that constantly follows fair procedures and promotes employee risk-taking is more likely to develop a devoted workforce that works to advance the business.(Fitz-enz, Jac; Phillips, J. J. 1998.)

Since there is currently an employment crisis, there is a large pool of candidates, thus hiring should be a priority because it is difficult to maintain the company's flexibility and culture without the right employees.
